A SWOT analysis would be useful for CCFC as it would allows them to evaluate their orginisation and identify there own oppotunitys and threats.
Here is my SWOT analysis of CCFC:
Strengths
. Funded
.Good staff (qualified)
. Great facilities
. location
Weaknesses
. Lack of media coverage
. advertising
. Reliability of players
. Reliant on students
Oppotunities
. Partnerships
. Advertising
. Awareness
Threats
. Goverment funding cuts
. Staff leaving
The main strength of CCFC is the facilties it posseses. The club has two large astros it can train on, two football pitches, a indoor sports hall, Gym, and changing rooms for both teams. These facilties are key in making sure students have the right tools to reach their potential. The facilties make the college look a very attractive option in which to join. The other strengths the club posseses are qualifed coaches who will get the best out of the students and further educate them helping them reach their full potential but also another strength of the club is the base in which it is located, as it easy to accsess with plenty of public transport making it easy for students to travel too.
The main weakness of CCFC is the reliability of the players. Having everything in place is brilliant, but if you dont have the students turn up then there is no point in having the best facilties. The club needs to make sure students turn up and particpate so they can reach their full potential and reach the goals of the college. Therefore they could offer incentives to players that turn up more than others. Other weaknesses such as lack of media coverage need to be adressed so that CCFC can keep raising its profile and keep improving. Without this the club may stay where it is at now and not further improve.
The best oppotunities that CCFC have are that they have the potential to get involved in some great partnerships with other well known companies to help promote CCFC. An advantage of a partnership can be " Increased participation through diversity of opportunity, linking together clubs as well as public and private sector provision" (sports england, 2011) The partnerships could provide funding and help raise the profile of the club on a bigger scale. The club could also use the website as a oppotunity to advertise the club and put on match reports and reviews to increase its profile.
The biggest threat that the club faces it goverment funding. If any funding is cut this will see the club needing to raise money from elsewhere. If they cant do this we will see less equipment available and and less oppotunitys being availble at the club. It may mean players having to pay for their own kits which they cant afford therefore they wont play and there wouldnt be as much particpation at the club.
"SWOT Analysis can be used to "kick off" strategy formulation, or in a more sophisticated way as a serious strategy tool. You can also use it to get an understanding of your competitors, which can give you the insights you need to craft a coherent and successful competitive position." (mindtool, 2011)
